Aims and scope

Ethics and Education is an international peer-reviewed journal that publishes research addressing current and perennial ethical questions related to education and related fields.

Ethics and Education conceives of education in a broad sense: it encompasses the diversity of educational settings (such as schools, universities, families, youth organizations, communities) and the practices, roles, and groups that constitute them.

The journal aims to provide space primarily for work that advances theoretical discussion using a wide range of methodological approaches and conceptual frameworks.

Submissions are welcomed from scholars in the field of educational philosophy, as well as those working in related disciplines including philosophy, sociology, and anthropology. 

The journal welcomes contributions that address the following issues or fields: 

  • Ethical issues relating to specific educational contexts, such as upbringing and family life, higher education, adult education, homeschooling and early childhood education and care .
  • Ethical challenges that arise in specific educational contexts, such as violence, justice and injustice, inclusion and exclusion, and diversity
  • Professional ethics in specific education contexts and roles, such as responsibility, authority, freedom, and emancipation
  • Applied ethics such as Bioethics, Management Ethics, Medical Ethics
  • Ethical issues relating to self and community, such as therapy, counselling, public vs. private
  • Rights discourses, such as human rights, children's rights
  • Ethical issues related to education in the context of global challenges, such as sustainability, data capitalism and algocracy, post-truth and fake news

Ethics and Education will be of interest to academics, practitioners, and policy-makers.

Peer Review Policy:
All research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymized refereeing by at least two anonymous referees.
