Major thematic areas covered include conflict and civil war, national security, terrorism, peacemaking and peacekeeping, conflict resolution, the economic effects of defence spending, arms races, the arms trade, the economics of alliances, burden sharing, defence management, budgeting and procurement, military personnel recruitment and retention, the defence‐industrial complex, defence R&D, country and industry surveys.

Whilst the emphasis is on economic analysis, good quality contributions from other relevant and related disciplines are also welcomed. Contributions can be theoretical, applied or policy-oriented, and they might be based on case studies, projects, countries or industries.

Peer Review
Manuscripts are initially appraised by one of the Editors and if deemed suitable for further consideration are subject to double-anonymized peer review from anonymous referees. Special issue introductions containing no research content and book reviews will be reviewed by the journal’s editorial team only. In all cases, the Editors’ decisions on a manuscript are final.

Regular papers should not exceed 10,000 words. Country or industry surveys can reach 12,000 words in length. Detailed instructions to authors can be found at http://www.tandfonline.com/gdpe
