Aims and scope

Australian Historical Studies is a refereed journal publishing original and previously unpublished (online or print copy) articles. First appearing in 1940, it is the oldest and most highly-regarded academic journal of Australian history. It is published four times a year.

Australian Historical Studies deals with all aspects of the history of Australia including its global context. All historical approaches are welcomed.

Peer Review Statement

All research articles in this journal undergo a rigorous double-anonymized peer review process, based on initial editor screening and refereeing by at least two anonymous reviewers. The editors review editorials, book and exhibition reviews before publication. Some longer exhibition reviews may be peer reviewed.
