Child and Adolescent Obesity (CHAO) is a peer-reviewed international open access journal that publishes research on obesity in children and adolescents.

Child and Adolescent Obesity aims to make child and adolescent obesity science available to everyone.

Child and adolescent obesity is a growing societal and public health problem that needs more attention. CHAO provides a platform for different stakeholders - clinicians, policymakers, nurses, physiotherapists, dietitians, and the public - to effectively communicate about ways to combat obesity in children and adolescents. The journal publishes research that relates to:

  • Advancing clinical understanding of science in childhood obesity.
  • Increasing the mutual understanding between scientists and policymakers.
  • Building a bridge between professionals and overweight children as well as their relatives.
  • Supporting the scientific investigation of including psychological based treatment into clinical practice.

Child and Adolescent Obesity accepts original research articles, systematic review articles, review articles, Letters to the Editor and brief reports.

The journal operates a single-anonymized peer review policy.
