The International Journal of Sustainable Development & World Ecology is a interdisciplinary journal for publishing cutting-edge research with novel concepts and broad significance on socioeconomic and environmental sustainability on the Earth. The aims of the journal are to promote sustainable development that recognises the balance of meeting development opportunities and conserving ecosystem services. Launched in 1994, the journal has reached a worldwide, diversified readership.
The journal serves as a dynamic forum for understanding and advancing the scientific consensus on sustainable development. Subject areas that are directly related to sustainable development and ecological sustainability encompass the scope of the journal. The sustainable development goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development are considered by the journal. Priority research topics include, but are not limited to:
• Energy options and their ecological impacts • Carbon-neutral strategies • Climate change mitigation and adaption • Global event governance • Food demand and production • Human well-being endurance • Urban health and resilience • Complex ecosystem coordination • Human dimensions in natural ecosystems • Ecosystem service management
It is essential that selected manuscripts should provide new knowledge in the respective topic areas.
Manuscripts can be presented with case studies, comprehensive studies, reviews, or in special issues. The journal publishes eight issues per year. Selected papers are published online before print.

Understanding and using journal metrics
Journal metrics can be a useful tool for readers, as well as for authors
who are deciding where to submit their next manuscript for publication.
However, any one metric only tells a part of the story of a journal’s
quality and impact. Each metric has its limitations which means that it
should never be considered in isolation, and metrics should be used to
support and not replace qualitative review.
We strongly recommend that you always use a number of metrics, alongside
other qualitative factors such as a journal’s aims & scope, its
readership, and a review of past content published in the journal. In
addition, a single article should always be assessed on its own merits and
