The faculty versus librarians in the acquisitions process: A comparative analysis

Pages 9-13 | Published online: 15 Sep 2014

Abstract

The acquisitions process in Nigerian universities is reviewed. A random sample of books acquired in two years’ time at the University of Port Harcourt Library in Nigeria is taken for the purpose of determining the main generators of new titles for the library’s collection. Circulation records of the books are traced, and recommendations for building a working collection most effectively are made.
