The experience acquired by LNH for about thirty years allows to set up powerful numerical methods, relying on new techniques developed by mathematicians and using the progress of computers. Numerical models could also benefit from an advanced knowledge in the physical processes. Some of these tools are presented here: NSL for wave propagation simulation, LIDO, TELEMAC and MITHRIDATE for modelling free surface flows. This article also emphasizes the evolution of the methods of work and the environment of computation.
