Abstract
A model is described which relates redundancy pay to the needs of the employee until his re-employment and to his loss of retirement pension. It has the unexpected effect of discouraging further redundancies in high unemployment areas. The need for a new statistic, the probability of re-employment, from the Department of Employment is expressed.
