Location Problems in the Planning of In-patient Facilities in the Health Service

Pages 939-952 | Published online: 19 Dec 2017

Abstract

Various objectives can be identified in the planning of in-patient facilities in the health service. In this paper, problems concerning the location of in-patient facilities are modelled by considering the ease of access to the facilities by the population at large. It is shown that, if these models are to be of use, some account must also be taken of the policies and objectives of the planning Authorities, the availability of the existing facilities and the general cost implications of the results produced.
