OR on the Psychologist's Couch

- how OR and psychology could work together

Pages 21-32 | Published online: 14 Aug 2019

Abstract

This paper attempts to show how OR and Applied Psychology can work together to the mutual benefit of both disciplines. In the author's view, Psychology can help OR in providing more realistic representation of human factors in OR models, and in understanding human decision-making. Conversely, OR can provide Psychologists with tools and techniques to study teams and organisations. The article summarises the author's experiences over 20 years of working to bring together the two disciplines.
