Abstract
In his thesis of 1903, Arnold Josefson, a Swedish internist, was the first to emphasize that in cases of pituitary tumors the temporal hemifields are typically lost from above downwards, and that regression occurs in the reverse order. This was confirmed by Fisher in 1911 and particularly by Cushing and Walker in 1915, although none of these authors mentioned the Josefson thesis, which was published in Swedish. This thesis is of historical interest in other respects as well.
