Abstract

We describe three subjects with neurofibromatosis type I, who showed a disappearance or marked reduction of a presumed glioma of the optic pathways. The cause of the spontaneous regression is not completely clear. Some of the controversial hypotheses are discussed. We raise some doubts about the use of surgery, which has been the prevalent form of treatment until now.
