Anthraquinone ß-D-glucoside from Cassia grandis

Abstract

A new anthraquinone glucoside has been isolated from the pods of Cassia grandis and was identified as 1,3,4-trihydroxy-6,7,8-trimethoxy-2-methyl anthraquinone-3-O-ß-D-glucopyranoside. The structure of this glucoside was elucidated by chemical and spectroscopic methods and confirmed by synthesis.
