Summary
A review of the available data suggests that animal waste contains substantial nutritional value. It also appears that these wastes are most efficiently utilized by ruminants and that poultry litter and cage manure are especially high in crude protein which is readily utilized by ruminanting animals. No serious pesticide or medicinal drug residues problems have resulted from feeding animals properly processed waste materials. There is no evidence that when properly used and properly processed, these waste materials will impart objectionable odours or tastes to the finished product. When information presently available is carefully considered we must conclude that waste material can be safely and profitably recycled by feeding without hazard to animal or human health.
