Type A Aortic Dissection. General Considerations and Results of 173 Operations

Abstract

Aortic dissection is an uncommon however catastrophic disease with extremely high mortality rate in untreated patients. Proper diagnosis and treatment can favourably modify natural history. This review will discuss following topics:

Treatment

Own experience in treatment of acute type A aortic dissection will be shown with special focus on aortic arch resection.
