Appendiceal Endometriosis Mimicking Acute Appendicitis

Abstract

Appendiceal endometriosis is a rare and usually asymptomatic condition. The authors report a case of a 24-year old woman, admitted for periumbilical pain. Physical examination revealed rebound tenderness in the right iliac fossa. Her white blood cell count was 23300/mm3. We performed appendicectomy. The histopathological result was endometriosis of the appendix vermiformis.
