Acta Oto-Laryngologica Prize 2019 awarded to Professor Barbara Wollenberg

Barbara Wollenberg

Bern, August 26, 2019

The Collegium Oto-Rhino-Laryngologicum Amicitiae Sacrum (CORLAS) and the international journal Acta Oto-Laryngologica have been strongly connected already since the founding of the Collegium in 1926 − 93 years ago. Therefore, it became natural also to create an Acta Prize which was established in 1995.

The Acta Oto-Laryngologica Prize is awarded every fourth year for exemplary contributions to international ORL-HNS in its broadest sense. Each recipient is selected from the entire ORL-HNS community. Membership of the Collegium is in no way a prerequisite for selection. The Award Committee comprises the Secretary-General of the Collegium, the Chairman of the Acta Oto-Laryngologica Foundation and the Chief Editor of the journal Acta Oto-Laryngologica.

The 2019 Acta Prize was awarded on 26 August 2019 to Barbara Wollenberg at the meeting of the Collegium Oto-Rhino-Laryngologicum Amicitiae Sacrum in Bern, Switzerland.

Barbara Wollenberg is Director and Chairperson at the Department of ORL-HNS, University Clinic of Schleswig-Holstein, Campus Lübeck, Germany. She is the past president of the German Society for ORL-HNS, chairperson of the Oncologic Working Group of this Society, member of the German National Research Academy of Science, member of the Senate der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft representing the surgical disciplines and holds a vast number of trust positions both nationally and internationally. Her research is focused on immunologic therapeutic strategies for patients with head and neck cancer.
