Abstract

A stereoisomeric mixture of (±)-8,16,26,34-tetrahydroxy-6,10,14,18,24,28,32,36-octaoxo-hentetracontane (C₄₁) was synthesized together with (±)-8,16-dihydroxy-6,10,14,18-tetraoxotri-cosane (C₂₃), utilizing bis addition of pentyl-l,5-dimagnesiumbromide to two moles of a C₁₈-alde-hyde.
