Experimental Exposure of Human Subjects to Ozone

&
Pages 329-330 | Published online: 16 Mar 2012

Abstract

Four presumably healthy male subjects were exposed for one hour to ozone at 0.1, 0.4, 0.6 and 1.0 ppm. Airway resistance increased slightly but significantly after exposure in two subjects at the lowest concentration, in one each at the two intermediate concentrations, and in all four at 1.0 ppm. The increases were physiologically small and generally less than those in normal subjects inhaling the smoke from a single cigarette.
