An Advective Model for Predicting Air Pollution within an Urban Heat Island With Applications to New York City

Pages 548-550 | Published online: 15 Mar 2012

Abstract

A simple air pollution model has been tested for New York City with data from five mornings which were characterized by urban heat island effects. The model is nondiffusive and relies primarily upon conservation of mass. The correlation coefficient between over 400 predicted and observed values of SO2 mixing ratio was 0.83.
