Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to describe oxidant production and transport along the western shore of Lake Michigan. Air quality and meteorological data were collected in this area of the midwest during the summers of 1976–1978 using a ground-based laboratory and an Instrumented aircraft. Ozone, oxides of nitrogen, hydrocarbons (both total and individual), halocarbons, and numerous meteorological parameters were monitored continuously at the ground site near Kenosha, WI. Aircraft measurements included ozone, oxides of nitrogen, condensation nuclei, visual range (nephelometer), sulfur dioxide, temperature, and relative humidity.
