Abstract
These remarks were presented as the keynote address to the Eleventh Annual Research Symposium on Land Disposal, Remedial Action, Incineration and Treatment of Hazardous Wastes, held in Cincinnati, Ohio, April 29-May 1, 1985. The symposium was sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Alternative Technologies Division, Hazardous Waste Engineering Laboratory.
