Vincent F. Follert Mr. Follert was an Assistant Professor at Western Illinois University at the time of his death in the summer of 1983. This paper was one of Vincent Follert's final projects, and his co-authors respectfully dedicate it to his memory, as well as to the memory of Daniel M. Rohrer.

Abstract

This essay presents a set of decision rules developed mainly from the policy making metaphor, pertaining to jurisdiction, policy selection and argument evaluation. Rules for various metaphors should be developed because they can facilitate application of metaphors, adaptation of argumentation to critics, consistency within metaphors, and comparison of metaphors.
