Nuclear Safety and Industrial Hygiene in the Fabrication of Nuclear Fuel Elements

Abstract

Industrial experience with the production of enriched fuel elements is reviewed briefly. Essential factors for the prevention of criticality incidents are outlined and discussed, and general criteria are given for the insurance of nuclear safety and health protection. Descriptions of specific processes and processing equipment are included, as are airborne concentrations which might be expected to result from the use of this equipment.
