Making Known Concentrations for Instrument Calibration

, &
Pages 392-402 | Published online: 31 Dec 2007

Abstract

The use of prepared gas samples of known concentrations is imperative for the calibration and verification of the performance of many industrial hygiene and safety instruments. Batch (static) and continuous mixing (dynamic) techniques for preparing and using known mixtures are described with discussion of advantages and limitations. The use of commercial field test kits and compressed gas cylinders is widely accepted.
