Abstract
Parallel groups of rats were injected intratracheally with radioactive and non-radioactive barium sulfate particles which had a geometric mean size of 3.6 microns. Dose levels were 23.3, 233, and 2330 micrograms. Lung clearance was found to be exponential in time. All doses had a clearance half-time of about 10 days, except the 2330μg radioactive dose for which the half-time was 27.5 days.
