Abstract
Many of the best spectrophotometric methods for iron have used 1,10-phenaa-throline. The introduction of the 4,7-diphenyl derivative “bathophenanthroline” has increased the sensitivity possible and lessened interference. The procedure is essentially specific for iron and a concentration-extraction step permits the analysis of large aliquots of very low iron concentration. By using chloroform only one extraction is required.
