Abstract

The design and calibration of a microburette apparatus are described. This instrument was designed to deliver microquantities of liquids as discrete droplets at a uniform rate. The controlled particle sizes produced are between 50 and 700 microns. Delivery weights may be varied from 0.0003 to 0.3220 gm/min widi liquids ranging in viscosity from 1.00 to 20.30 centipoises at 20°C. This device has been used in the titration of concentrated liquids, the study of small droplet behavior on surfaces of various textures, and for applying small doses of materials to the skin to study irritation and allergy reactions.
