The Role of Optometry Within the Naval Industrial Establishment

Pages 507-512 | Published online: 27 Dec 2007

Abstract

The U. S. Navy in many of its operations has many industrial environmental problems as found in private industry. The testing of vision relative to job requirements and a program of maintenance of good vision are important to health, safety, and production. The Navy program, dedicated to human maintenance, suggests five levels of prevention: promotion of health, specific protection, early diagnosis and treatment, limitation of disability, and rehabilitation.
