Abstract
This study is concerned with development of an automatic weight concentration analyzer. The physical properties, resistance, efficiency and life of layers of solid and hollow glass spheres, ranging in size from approximately 30 to 500μ are assessed. Sized layers of hollow spheres provide a known surface area of low tare for collection; they can be weighed directly and also transported pneumatically. The angle of slide and both horizontal and vertical transport velocities were measured to obtain design factors for a suitable conveying system. Analytical methods utilizing the spherical collectors which were evaluated include: weight deposit, chemical analysis, selective gamma ray absorption and quantitative disruption of tuned coil fields.
