Abstract
In rats the ingestion of Santowax OM, a mixture of terphenyls used as a coolant, and Omre High Boilers over prolonged periods inhibits weight gain and leads to anemia and kidney and liver damage. At a daily dietary intake of 350 mg/kg or more, Santowax OM produces degenerative changes in the nephron; the Omre High Boilers at a daily dietary intake of 33 mg/kg or more cause histiocytic infiltration and cirrhotic changes in the liver.
