Abstract
The present Department of Air Pollution Control was authorized by law in November 1952. The Department is responsible not only for smoke control and abatement but also for the control of all sources of air pollution. During the 11 years of operation, the Department has developed criteria for oil-fired equipment, flue-fed and direct-fed incinerators; criteria for spray booths, drying ovens, and spreaders, including all types of coating and impregnating operations; and criteria used in the examination of applications for registration of retail neighborhood dry-cleaning establishments including coin-operated dry-cleaning establishments. Technical data sheets relative to required data for review of submitted applications have been developed.
