On the Interpretation of Air Sampling for Radioactive Particles

Pages 98-109 | Published online: 27 Dec 2007

Abstract

This paper outlines a five-year program of studies of air samples taken in operational areas where radioactive substances are handled. The special instruments and techniques developed for this purpose are briefly described. For the areas studied, the results indicate that routine air sampling for radioactive particles may not give a reliable indication of human exposure and that more attention should be given to the interpretation of air sampling results.
