Abstract

Analysis of “normal” hair showed an average of 0.3 jug of arsenic per gram, and analysis of “normal” liver showed an average arsenic content of 0.35 μg/gm on an air-dried basis. The commercially available alcoholic beverages tested did not contain an appreciable amount of arsenic. An increased body level of arsenic in persons with cirrhosis of the liver who were alcoholics, compared with other persons, could not be shown.
