Exposure to Copper Dust

Pages 461-462 | Received 03 Nov 1967, Published online: 27 Dec 2007

Abstract

In the lapping (polishing) of copper plates, unexpected exposures to copper dust were found to occur. Exposures of the order of one-tenth of the TLV were associated with mild symptomatology similar to “metal fume fever.” Dust control achieved primarily by exhaust ventilation reduced copper concentrations to a minimum, and employee complaints ceased.
