Abstract

At Chalk River supplied air hoods have been used for many years for certain kinds of work. These hoods had many undesirable features, such as poor vision, high noise level, and some other minor annoyances. A new hood was developed which gives a protection factor in excess of 104 against particulate contamination, undistorted vision with a natural field of view, and a noise level inside the hood of approximately 70 dB. The hood is comfortable to wear and costs about the same as supplied air respirators.
