Abstract
Under the auspices of the National Academy of Sciences, the Advisory Center on Toxicology serves as an official advisor to seven federal agencies, including NASA and the military services. Its files are oriented toward the professional people employed by these agencies and are usually consulted with regards to their more difficult questions. A prime data source has been the chemical manufacturing industry where much unpublished information reposes. The Center has gained industry's respect by its discreet handling of proprietary data. All industry needs a repository and source for unpublished data on the hazards of industrial products. Probably through existing organizations, industry must be persuaded to supply data and financial aid to create such a system, particularly for unpublished data.
