Determination of Radon Daughters on Filters by a Simple Liquid Scintillation Technique

Pages 718-721 | Published online: 04 Jun 2010

Abstract

A thin layer detection system is described which can be used to separate alpha and beta spectra sufficiently for simple measurement of low resolution alpha peaks usually obtained from filter samples. By using non-dissolving liquid scintillators all activity can be retained inside the detector volume and 100% detection efficiency is obtained. The method requires only conventional scintillation pulse height instrumentation, no cooling, and has a high accuracy.
