Abstract
A newly-developed electronic meter for quick direct measurement of the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) index is described. The fast response of the instrument is attained by use of a tiny globe from which the correct 6-inch black Vernon Globe temperature as well as the true WBGT based on this 6-inch globe temperature are obtained. The device also provides for independent measurement of dry bulb temperature, wet bulb temperature and wind speed. Use of this instrument permits accurate assessment of transient heat stress levels in hot industrial and military environments.
