The effects of milling on diameters and lengths of fibrous glass and chrysotile asbestos fibers

Abstract

By means of light and electron microscopy techniques, it was determined that ball milling reduces fibrous glass fiber lengths, but does not affect their diameters. Ball milling reduces both diameters and lengths of chrysotile asbestos in the size range that can be evaluated by phase contrast microscopy.
