Abstract

A gas chromatographic procedure has been developed using toluene extraction for the analysis of benzene in hemolyzed blood. No sample incubation is required and only small quantities of blood (0.2 to 0.5 g) are needed. Levels as low as 0.5 µg benzene per gram of blood have been determined.
