Abstract
Efficiencies of “Microquartz” and Gelman Type A Filters were evaluated over a range of temperatures (≤538°C); particle sizes and volatilities; and gas velocities. Both filters were 99.9 percent efficient for sampling nonvolatile particles. However, volatile aerosols with vaporization temperatures below the filter temperature passed through the filters as vapors.
