Abstract

A dynamic system was developed to measure the solubility and chemical reactivity of SO2 in various petroleum oils at concentrations of SO2 that might be found in the environment. Chemical reactivity proved to be more important than solubility as a mechanism of interaction of SO2 in three of the four oils tested.
