ABSTRACT.
Telephone transmission of EEG was first demonstrated in 1971. The technique has proved to be a reliable way to obtain clinical information from rural hospitals. It must be recognized, however, that the validity of the data is only as good as the equipment and the personnel using it. Technologists at both the transmitting and the receiving sites must be well trained. This paper is a review of equipment, personnel, and philosophy involved in telephone transmission of EEGs.
