ABSTRACT.
One need only peruse the ASET Guidelines or the pages of a technical journal to appreciate the complexity of EEG technology. This complexity tends to direct the technologist's attention toward detail. Yet, to be successful, the examination must be more than a demonstration of technology. It is the thesis of this article that a meaningful examination is one performed with clear goals in mind, to answer questions that are specific to each patient. A structure is presented that can aid the technologist in organizing the examination into a meaningful whole.
