Julius B. Barbanel
JULIUS B. BARBANEL received his B.S. from Case Western Reserve University in 1973 and his Ph.D. in mathematics from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1979. He is a Professor of Mathematics at Union College, has published articles in both set theory and fair division, and has recently authored a book on fair division entitled The Geometry of Efficient Fair Division (2005). He also has interests in ancient mathematics.
Steven J. Brams
STEVEN J. BRAMS received his B.S. from MIT and his Ph.D. in political science from Northwestern. He is currently Professor of Politics at NYU, where he has taught since 1969. He is the author or co-author of 14 books, the most recent being Mathematics and Democracy: Designing Better Voting and Fair-Division Procedures (2008), and some 250 articles. He is a former president of the Peace Science Society (1990–91) and the Public Choice Society (2004-2006), a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, a Guggenheim Fellow, and was a Visiting Scholar at the Russell Sage Foundation.
Walter Stromquist
WALTER STROMQUIST has been teaching mathematics and statistics at Bryn Mawr College and Swarthmore College for the past six years. Previously he was employed as an analyst for the U.S. Treasury and as a mathematical consultant, primarily for Daniel H. Wagner Associates. His B.A. is from the University of Kansas and his Ph.D. from Harvard, and he has also taught at Kansas, Harvard, the George Washington University, Temple University, Eastern University, and USMA (West Point). He is editor-elect of Mathematics Magazine.
