Statistics for Medical Students: Personalizing the Keller Plan

Abstract

A description is given of a course for medical students that emphasizes critical reading of medical literature. The main content of this course is presented through a self-study, mastery approach known as the Keller Plan. Experience in analyzing articles is gained through a series of small-group discussions. Students demonstrate mastery of the course content by passing a series of tests, and demonstrate skill in analyzing the literature by a written critique of an assigned article.
