A Geometric Description of Orthogonal Contrasts in One-Way Analysis of Variance

Pages 104-106 | Received 01 Nov 1983, Published online: 12 Mar 2012

Abstract

A geometric description of contrasts in one-way analysis of variance is given that provides a reason for the special status of those linear combinations of treatment group means in which the coefficients sum to zero. Geometry is also used to clarify the concept of orthogonal contrasts.
