Abstract
A simple flow injection chemiluminescence method has been developed for the determination of fenitrothion, based on the direct reaction of fenitrothion with luminol and hydrogen peroxide in the presence of sodium chloride as enhancer. Under the optimal conditions, the detection limit was 4×10−9 g · ml−1 fenitrothion and the linear range was 1.0×10−8–2.0×10−6 g · ml−1. The relative standard deviation was 2.9% for 1.0×10−7 g · ml−1 fenitrothion (n=11). This method has been applied to the determination of fenitrothion in water samples with satisfactory results. The possible reaction mechanism was also discussed briefly.
