Abstract

A novel enzymeless glucose sensor of poly (sulfosalicylic acid) film modified nickel disk-microelectrode based on glucose electrochemical oxidation directly in 0.01 mol dm−3 NaOH has been fabricated. It shows excellent electrocatalytic activities towards glucose oxidation at a low positive potential of 0.49 V (vs. Ag/AgCl). The calibration curve is linear in the glucose concentration range of 6.0 × 10−6 to 1.0 × 10−3 mol dm−3 with a detection limit 9 × 10−7 mol dm−3 (S/N = 3) and sensitivity 3.8 mA μM−1 cm−2. The presented glucose sensor is selective, sensitive, and rapid in response time. It had been used to direct determination of glucose in serum.
